Two people shot in southwest Charlotte, one dead, police say – WSOC TV
CHARLOTTE — Two people were shot Saturday evening in south Charlotte, one of them fatally, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
According to authorities, the incident happened on Park Crossing Drive Saturday evening around 5:40 p.m.
MEDIC initially said one person was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
CMPD said the victim died from his injuries about an hour later.
Shortly after 7:30 p.m., CMPD announced that the area currently being investigated includes Park Crossing Drive.
Veteran Channel 9 crime reporter Glenn Counts learned at the scene that two people, a man and a woman, had both been shot. The woman was taken to a hospital by private vehicle, where she succumbed to her injuries. The man is currently hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Neighbors told Count they heard five to six gunshots outside the camera around 5:30 p.m. One resident said he went outside and saw a man lying injured on the ground.
Police told Count that both the man and woman were in a car when someone approached and opened fire.
“When officers arrived on scene, they found a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, and the victim was transported to the atrium. At this time, his injuries are considered life-threatening. ” said Maj. Jackie Briley of CMPD. “Shortly thereafter, South Precinct received a 911 call regarding a woman suffering from gunshot wounds in the Pineville Atrium. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.”
Police are searching for the suspect and are working to identify the vehicle he was in.
The cause of the shooting has not been disclosed.
