He felt how people’s craze for Telegu films was appealing and said that was a pivotal reason that motivated the 777 Charlie actor to step into this world. He praised the influence of the Telugu film industry, saying, “Movies are culture.” He acknowledged that Telugu people’s enthusiasm for Tollywood films is unparalleled and said, “Nowhere else are films celebrated the way they are celebrated here.”

How it all started for the Vaastu Prakaara star

Shetty’s journey into the world of Telugu cinema was an unconventional one. He revealed that it all started when his roommate Sri Krishna Acharya introduced him to these films through his VCR and his CDs during his engineering days. Chiranjeevi garu was among the stars chosen by his roommates. Shetty was obsessed with Chiranjeevi’s films, which left an indelible impression on him.

The actor further shared his fascination with the weekly rituals of Telugu families. “It’s a tradition,” he says, and the family makes it a point to watch at least one movie together every week. However, it was only after he embarked on his filmmaking journey that he truly began to understand the depth of Telugu cinema.

Additionally, Ricky Starr humorously recalled an anecdote he heard recently. Someone had said that Telugu audiences tend to flock to theaters even if a movie doesn’t do well at the box office. “Here, even if a movie isn’t good, people will go see it and find out why it’s not good,” he laughed.
