The ‘3 Idiots’ actor recently attended a Mumbai conference organized by India Today. In a conversation with the host, the actor revealed that some directors objected to him acting in the TV series ‘Mirzapur’. He said, “At the time I got the offer, there weren’t many shows happening yet. But I was lucky enough to work on the other side of the world. I saw it coming). I saw the model moving. I know many eminent directors who asked me not to be a part of this film (Mirzapur). Ki Ye Kya – Ka rahe ho? Ye to aayega 5-6 saal mein (What are you doing, this will happen in 5-6 years).”

Elaborating on it, the actor revealed: “The OTT model was being done in the West. Yes, it’s definitely a disruptor. We love theaters and I always make films that play there. That’s in every actor.”

Most recently, Ali starred in the Hollywood film Kandahar, starring Gerard Butler. In connection with this action film, he was asked if he thought Indian filmmakers are as good at storytelling as foreign filmmakers, even in the espionage genre.
