Khan and Dhanush commenced the shoot on 1 March 2020 in Lucknow, before the production got halted in the 3rd week of March due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India. In ‘Atrangi Re’, Sara Ali Khan plays Rinku and Dhanush, is Vishu. Both find themselves in a sticky situation when they’re forced to marry each other. When they realise that neither of them wants to be married, they promise to part ways. Rinku makes plans to elope with her boyfriend of many years, Sajjad.
But while living together, Rinku and Vishu slowly fall in love and Rinku finds herself at a crossroads between Vishu and Sajjad.
