Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s Nattu Kaka aka actor Ghanshyam Nayak passed away on Sunday following a long battle with cancer away
The 77-year-old Ghanshyam Nayak who played Nattu Kaka in the famous comedy show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma has breathed his last. The actor was a very famous Gujarati theatre and film artist. He won the hearts of millions by playing Nattu Kaka in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. The news of his demise was confirmed by Jennifer Mistry who plays the role of Roshan Sodhi in the show.
To Etimes, she confirmed the news and said, “We just got to know about the news and it is extremely sad we have lost him.” Even Tanmay Vekeria who plays Bagga (Nattu kaka’s companion on the show) expressed grief over his demise. He said to the portal, “I got the news first as his son called me at 5:45 pm. His condition failed to improve after his hospitalization a few months back. He passed away today at 5:30 PM.”
Ghanshyam Nayak aka Nattu Kaka was also extremely close to Dilip Joshi. In the show, he had his maximum scenes with Bagga (Tanmay Vekeria) and Dilip Joshi as they worked in Gada Electronics.
It was in June this year that Ghanshyam Nayak had been reportedly detected with cancer. He was undergoing Chemotherapy. The actor had then opened up to Dainik Jagran and stated that his condition was fine. “My health is fine, but the treatment had to be started again. Currently, I am undergoing chemotherapy sessions. It was after four months that I shot a special episode for Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah in Daman last week. Believe me, I enjoyed it a lot,” he had said. Earlier, he had also undergone surgery as almost 8 knots were found in his neck. Post recovery, he had returned to the show.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s Nattu Kaka aka actor Ghanshyam Nayak passed away on Sunday following a long battle with cancer. Producer Asit Kumarr Modi shared the news on Twitter, posting the actor’s photo and writing “Om Shanti” in Hindi.
Ghanshyam Nayak had more than 100 Gujarati and Hindi films to his credit. He starred in over 350 television shows. Besides Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, he was known for his roles in shows like Khichdi and Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. He also made an appearance in various Bollywood films including–. Masoom, Tirangaa, Aashik Awara, Aankhen, China Gate, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Tere Naam.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah creator Asit Kumarr Modi mourned the demise of Ghanshyam Nayak. In a statement, he said, “Ghanashyam Nayak (Nattu kaka) and I go a long way back and our families also were related. His passing away is a loss personally to me as well as for the show. Through the years, he kept motivating and encouraging me and, he himself was very happy with the role he was playing in the show. His absence will be felt by everyone and is a big loss for the entire team. We pay homage to a great actor and a great human being and our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this painful time.”
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah director Malav Rajda shared her fond memories of Ghanshyam Nayak. She took to Instagram and wrote, “Ghanshyam Bhai know you since I was a child when u use to do plays with my dad…loved you then and loved you now..and you will always be loved by everyone who knew you…still have to come across such a jovial, lovable and a selfless man like you…thank you for always showering ur love and blessings on me…you will be really missed a lot…love you natu kaka..”
