Reviewing Mr & Mrs Mahi, Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express wrote, “Mr and Mrs Mahi should have properly been called Mrs and Mr Mahi. This women-forward story deserved the title change. But it also says something about the difficulties mainstream Bollywood still faces in foregrounding its feminist agenda. The story may begin with Mahendra (Rajkumar Rao) wanting to play professionally to escape the deathly tedium of helping out in his father’s sports shop, but the film’s heart, like that of its protagonist, only begins to move with the arrival of Mahima (Jhanvi Kapoor).”
