Fans are eagerly awaiting films like Kalki 2898 AD, Chandu Champion, Maharaj, A Quiet Place: Day One, Inside Out 2 and more. 1) Kalki 2898
After several postponements, Naag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD will hit theatres on June 27. The much-awaited film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani. The film is produced by Aswini Dutt, founder of Vyjayanthi Movies. The film is touted to be a mythology-inspired sci-fi epic set in the future. The multilingual epic was greenlit as Project K in 2020.
2) Chandu Champion
Directed by Kabir Khan, Chandu Champion is based on the incredible and inspiring real-life story of a sportsman and his never-give-up spirit. Kartik Aaryan plays the role of Chandu. The film delves deep into Chandu’s life and follows the eponymous character through different ages and stages of his journey, from his dream of becoming a village champion, to joining the Indian Army, to succeeding in athletics, to getting shot during the 1965 war. Chandu Champion is slated to hit theatres on June 14.
3) Maharaj
Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan will be making his film debut with Siddharth P. Malhotra’s film Maharaj. Junaid plays the role of a journalist in the film. Apart from Junaid, the film also stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Sharvari and Shalini Pandey. Maharaj is bankrolled by Aditya Chopra under YRF Entertainment. The film is set in 1862, when India had only three universities. Journalist and social reformer Karsandas Mulji was a pioneer for women’s rights and social reform. Karsandas Mulji’s bravery is showcased in the film. Based on a defamation case, the film will be released on Netflix on June 14.
4) Blackout
Directed by Devan Bhavsar, ‘Blackout’ is touted to be a crime thriller comedy that delves into the depths of humanity and the consequences of human actions in the face of adversity. The film stars Vikrant Massey, Mouni Roy and Sunil Grover. Produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Niraj Kothari, ‘Blackout’ will be available on JioCinema from June 7.
5) Ishq Vishq rebound
Directed by Nipun Avinash Dharmadhikari, Ishq Vishk Rebound stars Rohit Saraf, Pashmina Roshan (debutant), Naira Grewal and Jibran Khan. The film explores themes of love, relationships and friendship in modern times. It is scheduled to hit theatres on June 21. Ishq Vishk Rebound is a sequel to the 2003 cult coming-of-age film Ishq Vishk.
6) Munja
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, this horror comedy also stars Sharvari, Mona Singh, Abhay Varma and Sathyaraj. The film, which hits theatres on June 7, revolves around ‘Munja’, a mythological story deeply rooted in the world of Indian beliefs and cultural systems.
7) Bad Boys: Ride or Die
Bad Boys 4: Ride or Die, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, will be released in theatres across India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on June 7. Bad Boys 4: Ride or Die is the fourth chapter in Smith and Lawrence’s Bad Boys series, with the two actors reprising their roles as Superintendent Michael Eugene “Mike” Lowry and Detective Superintendent Marcus Miles Burnett. The fourth installment will be directed by filmmaking duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who helmed the series’ previous film, 2020’s Bad Boys for Life.The cast also includes Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Paola Nunez, Eric Dane, Ioan Gruffudd, Jacob Scipio, Melanie Liburd, Tasha Smith, Tiffany Haddish and Joe Pantoliano.
8) Watcher
A supernatural horror film written and directed by Isanna Night Shyamalan. Produced by M. Night Shyamalan, the film is based on the novel of the same name by A.M. Shine. In The Watchers, 28-year-old artist Mina (Dakota Fanning) is stranded in a vast, uncharted forest in Ireland. When she finally finds refuge, she is locked in a room with three strangers, surrounded by glass and illuminated at night. Every night, they are watched and pursued by a mysterious creature. Besides Dakota, the film also stars Georgina Campbell, Oliver Finnegan, and Olwen Hoole.
9) Inside Out 2
Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out 2 introduces new emotions into Riley’s world, including Anxiety (Maya Hawke), Jealousy (Ayo Edebiri), Envy (Adele Exarchopoulos) and Embarrassment (Paul Walter Hauser). When their headquarters is suddenly demolished and a completely unexpected turn of events occurs, the five characters – Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust – don’t know what to feel. Featuring the voices of Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Lewis Black as Anger, Tony Hale as Fear and Lisa Lapira as Disgust.
10) A Quiet Place: Day 1
Directed by Michael Sarnoski for Paramount Pictures, A Quiet Place Part 1 depicts the day the world went quiet. Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff and Djimon Hounsou star, and Michael co-created and wrote the screenplay with John Krasinski. The prequel marks the first horror/sci-fi series that John does not direct, although he returns as a producer. A Quiet Place was released in 2018 and its sequel, A Quiet Place Part II, hit theaters in May 2021.
