‘Kill 18 people, it’s just porn’: Celebrity actor says violence in Hollywood is hurting the world: report

Famous actor William Macy has reportedly said that Hollywood’s depiction of violence is harmful to our society.

The “Kingdom of the Apes” actor said that movie scenes showing multiple killings are completely unnecessary, and noted that it is more dramatic to kill just one person in a feature film, according to People. He reportedly spoke candidly about his belief that overkill is what modern television and modern movies are wrong with, during a recent episode of Brett Goldstein’s “Films To Be Buried With” radio show that was published on Wednesday.

“I swear to God, if you kill one person, there is nothing more dramatic than that,” he said. “If you kill 18 people, it’s just a porn movie. The only thing you can do to make it more dramatic is kill 18 more.”

Macy offered more personal insight into why he believes the body count in the entertainment industry needs to be reduced.

“I think Hollywood is doing a great disservice to the world with our depictions of violence,” he said on the podcast.

Messi has written and directed films and is a prestigious Oscar nominee. He believes he can do a better job, and demonstrate his beliefs in reducing the number of deaths in movies by doing it himself, People reported. He reportedly noted that he pitched the idea to Goldstein to highlight an example of how things could change.

“It takes three episodes to fall in love with one of the main characters and then shoot him,” he suggested, according to the outlet. “But don’t write him off the show.”

“And every week, you can see what a bullet does to a human body. “You can see how it destroys his marriage…deep, dark depression,” Messi said, according to People magazine.

He has reportedly said he is writing his next project, a Western, which he hopes will also star his 23-year-old daughter, Sophia, whom he has with wife Felicity Huffman. He explained how he crafted the script and emphasized his desire to make the film more historically accurate, and how he aimed to keep the death toll low, the outlet reported.

“When I first started, there were nine bodies on page four,” he said, according to People magazine. I pushed for a return to the true West, not the West. Don’t imitate movies. (Related: Quentin Tarantino’s films draw a clear moral line about murder in movies)

Macy reportedly admitted that his dedication to reducing deaths in films and his desire to tone down Hollywood’s “depicts of violence” have been met with some challenges.

“It cost me a lot of work,” he told the outlet.
