Annu Kapoor: Before you criticise us, you should watch our film Hamare Bala | Hindi Film News
Annu Kapoor, star of the upcoming film Hamare Bala, has been receiving death threats ever since the makers released the trailer a few days ago. The film revolves around the issue of population growth in the country and focuses on the problems women in small towns go through. The actor posted about the death threats she has received on her social media accounts and has sought police protection.
In an exclusive interview, Annu said, “Films are all about conveying a message. Our film Hamare Bala is about a couple who have 11 children. The woman is pregnant with her 12th child. Doctors tell the husband that the woman is not strong enough to bear any more children, but the husband is adamant about giving birth to the 12th child. The film focuses on the growing population of the country and how important women empowerment is in the country. Soon after the trailer of the film was released, I received a lot of death threats on social media. The actresses were also targeted on social media and were subjected to abuse and slander. People should watch the film before commenting or criticising on the subject.”
The actor added, “It is important that people watch the film which releases in the first week of June. Why is there such abuse being directed at actors and filmmakers? We have also received death threats. I don’t check social media comments or watch much TV but when my team informed me about this, I felt disappointed and saddened that people are judging a film without seeing it.”
Annu Kapoor was last seen in the film Dry Day. He has appeared in numerous TV shows and films over the past three decades.
