Bollywood, 2 movies that lost more than 100 million in the same week

In the same week, two Bollywood movies crashed and caused a huge uproar, creating havoc for the industry.

Produced on a budget of 350 million, “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” got off to a sluggish start with a net profit of just 150 million on its first day, failing to fully capitalize on the lucrative Eid holiday. Ta. Despite a modest attempt at growth over the weekend, collections plummeted to $2 billion on the fifth day, sealing its fate.

After five days, the net profit is a dismal 440.07 billion, but the net profit is expected to barely exceed 500 million in the extended week, far from the budget. The film struggles to cross $600 billion in its lifetime.

On the other hand, “Maidaan” had a dismal advance reservations despite receiving positive reviews. Paid previews barely made it past his $2.6 billion net profit, followed by his underwhelming $4.65 billion net profit on the first day.

Despite a slight improvement over the weekend, the film’s box office gross was a dismal 222.2 billion yen. The film would struggle to raise $50 billion during production, less than a quarter of its budget.

Both films made huge losses, with Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan estimated to have lost around 150 million yen (this on top of getting a 100 million rebate from the UK) and Maidan. The loss was approximately 100 million yen.

This gloomy scenario led industry analysts to claim that this week was the worst week in the history of Bollywood box office. It will take some time for the industry to recover from the shock of these numbers.

Let’s hope the producers, directors, actors, and everyone else recovers and bounces back stronger after this.
