Kate Middleton has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy
Kate Middleton has broken her silence and revealed she is battling cancer after intense media scrutiny and a wave of conspiracy theories about her health and whereabouts while recovering from abdominal surgery earlier this year.
“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and it was believed at the time that my condition was not cancerous. The surgery was successful. But tests carried out after the operation found that there was cancer”. On several social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter) (below).
She added that, on medical advice, she had begun a course of preventive chemotherapy. She is now in the early stages of this treatment.
“This has of course been a huge shock, and William and I are doing everything we can to address and manage this privately for the sake of our little family,” Middleton said in the video. “As you can imagine, this has taken time. It took some time for me to recover from major surgery and to begin my treatment. But most importantly, we took time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that was right for them and to reassure them that I would be OK.” .
Middleton added in the video: “As I told them, I’m fine.” I am getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal in my mind, body, and spirit. Having William by my side is a wonderful source of comfort and reassurance too, as is the love, support and kindness shown by so many of you. It means a lot to both of us.”
Middleton then asked for time and privacy to complete cancer treatment.
“My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy. I look forward to returning as I move forward. But for now I have to focus on making a full recovery,” she said, ending her video with a message to anyone else battling cancer: “Please don’t Lose faith or hope. you are not alone.”
Kensington Palace is no doubt hoping that Middleton’s first words speaking publicly will calm speculation about the Princess of Wales.
The next day, a Kensington Palace spokesperson said in a statement on Saturday that Middleton and Prince William were “deeply touched by the kind messages from people here in the UK, across the Commonwealth and around the world in response to Her Royal Highness’s letter.” “
Middleton has remained out of sight since Kensington Palace announced that the princess had been discharged from a London clinic on January 29 and was in good health. As speculation mounted, on February 29, palace officials felt compelled to reiterate that news regarding her health would come if there was anything important to say.
Amid Middleton’s recovery, Buckingham Palace announced on February 5 that King Charles had been diagnosed with an unspecified type of cancer.
The palace said in a statement that the British monarch “remains completely positive about the treatment he received and looks forward to returning to full public service soon.”
The previous month, on the same day news broke of Middleton’s planned abdominal surgery, it was announced that the royal was due to have surgery for an enlarged prostate. The palace explained that the king does not suffer from prostate cancer.
The Princess of Wales, in good health, was recently seen walking with her husband, Prince William, near Windsor Castle. But the footage did little, if anything, to ease speculation and conspiracy theories about her medical procedures and recovery, including after Kensington Palace released an edited photo of Middleton with her family on Mother’s Day in the UK.
Photo agencies quickly deemed the photo doctored and it was pulled from four news agencies. In a rare incident, the princess issued an admission of guilt over the edited photo, which underwent 17 edits.
The release of the video on Friday is seen as an attempt by the royals to regain control of coverage of Middleton’s health recovery from British tabloids, US publications and social media platforms.
