“If I were Oliver Coleman, I would gain a lot.”

Olivia Colman has enjoyed one of the most acclaimed acting performances of the past decade, winning an Academy Award for “The Favourite” in 2019 and receiving nominations for “The Father” and “The Lost Daughter” as well as playing Queen Elizabeth II in “The Lost “Daughter”. Crown.” But the English actress does not feel that the compensation she received has kept up with her success.

In a recent appearance on CNN’s The Amanpour Hour, Coleman shared her thoughts on gender equality in Hollywood, explaining that she feels many actresses are still underpaid even though they are a bigger box office draw than their male colleagues.

“Don’t get me started on the pay disparity, but male actors get paid more because they used to say they attract audiences,” Coleman said. “And actually, that hasn’t been true for decades, but they still like to use that as a reason why women aren’t paid as much as their male counterparts.”

Coleman went on to say that she believes she could make more money while doing the exact same work if she were a man.

“I fully realize that if I were Oliver Coleman, I would earn a lot more than I do now,” she said. “There’s only one pay disparity I know of, and it’s a 12,000 percent difference.”

Colman has been busy promoting her new film, Wicked Little Letters, and recently spoke to IndieWire at the film’s New York premiere about her scene in Barbie that was ultimately cut from the film.

“They arranged a call between me and David Heyman, the producer, and Greta Gerwig. I thought: Oh, I know what this should be (for),” Coleman continued. “It made perfect sense, because it didn’t add anything to the story, it was just fun. Maybe they were running, I don’t know. But it was perfect for me, because I was getting paid for the job, and then no one could say I was bad at it.” .
