Director Amit Sharma reveals why Keerthy Suresh was replaced by Priyamani in ‘Maidan’ Hindi movie news
After the success of ‘Shaitaan’, Ajay Devgn is now turning his attention to the long-stalled film ‘Maidan’ in which he plays the role of Syed Abdul Rahim, the legendary architect of Indian football. Opposite him, he is paired with southern actress Priyamani, who was last seen in Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan. However, it was earlier reported that another southern actress, Keerthi Shetty, was supposed to be part of the film, but things didn’t work out. It was then speculated that she may have decided to opt out of her movies due to issues with her age.
However, in an interview with News18, director Amit Ravindanath Sharma revealed the real reason for Keerthy’s exit. He said he had a certain look in mind for Rahim’s wife, and Keesee had lost a lot of weight. She didn’t deserve the character, she posted, and everyone realized that someone else would be a better fit. Maidaan will release on Eid with Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan.
Keerthy will now make her debut in a Hindi film in Atlee’s Hindi remake of the hit Tamil film Teri, alongside Varun Dhawan starrer John Baby. Varun’s film will be produced by Atlee and directed by Atlee’s assistant Karith.
