Farhan Akhtar says the Dil Chahta Hai 2 talks were never “boring”. He reveals why he doesn’t feel the need to rethink the film for a sequel.Watch | Bollywood News
Farhan Akhtar first visited Goa in 1990, when a large group of his friends reached the destination by bus. This actor-director became the idol of an entire generation a decade later with his directorial debut ‘Dil Chahta Hai’.
Dil Chahta Hai follows the lives of three college graduates – Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna – as they overcome personal challenges that test their friendship. The film is often considered a landmark work in Hindi cinema, especially for Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s production company Excel Entertainment (Rock On, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara). ) is considered to be the beginning of many friendship-based stories.
This is also a movie that some fans think should be revisited for a sequel to see what the lead trio would be like in 20 years. In an interview with Indianexpress.com, Farhan said that he is aware that the calls for Dil Chahta Hai 2 keep coming frequently but he will never get tired of it.
“I never get bored. Every time someone asks me that, I feel like it’s great that people are asking for a sequel because they loved the first one so much. I never get bored because I’m always grateful. But I don’t think there is a need to do Dil Chahta Hai 2. I think this movie has done what it was supposed to do and said what it wanted to say. There is no need to add anything to what is there now. You’re probably trying to add something to a story that doesn’t have one.
“For me, in a way, a film like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is like the first Rock On or Zee Re Zara, which of course is still going to be made. But in terms of the story being told, it occupies the same kind of emotional space, which I experienced when I did Dil Chahta Hai. So that’s why I wanted to go back and do a sequel. “There has never been,” he added.

Excel Entertainment continues its quest to document stories of friendship and Goa with its latest release Madgaon Express. The comedy stars Divyendu, Pratik Gandhi, Avinash Tiwary, Nora Fatehi and others.
Farhan said the key to making a good buddy film is for the characters to resonate with the audience. “You have to be invested in the people on screen. You have to see your friends in it, identify with them, and want to be part of that group. Because most of these movies Because the story isn’t that heavy. Of course there’s a story with a beginning, middle, and end, but what’s really fun is how they handle things. They have to make it very likable and very believable. It doesn’t have to be.
“I loved the guys in ‘Madgaon Express’ and their humor was really great. When you sit alone in a room and laugh out loud while reading something, it pretty much tells you what you’re feeling. You don’t have to be forced to laugh just because someone is narrating it, you don’t have a choice. It’s a quick read, it’s engaging, and it has great characters beyond the three boys. ” he added.
Scheduled to release on March 22, ‘Madgaon Express’ marks actor Kunal Kemmu’s directorial debut.
