Daldal: Bhumi Pednekar to play a cop for a new web series
Bhumi Pednekar is gearing up to play a cop in the upcoming web series ‘Daldal’ and she is not shying away from the challenge. Directed by Amrit Raj Gupta and based on Vish Dhamija’s book ‘Bhendi Bazaar’, the show promises to showcase a different side of Pednekar’s acting prowess.
Expressing his excitement, Pednekar shared, “I am naturally drawn to challenges. This is my core. I’ve always done it right since my debut… I believe we’re in an era of content and actors can really shine with these opportunities. Daldal is a great project for me to showcase a whole new side of my acting.”

In ‘Daldal’, Pednekar portrays a woman who breaks stereotypes and becomes the DCP of Mumbai. She embraces the complexities of her character, reflecting the spirit of ambitious and independent women in today’s world.
Pednekar also expressed his delight at collaborating with producer Vikram Malhotra, known for hits like ‘Toilet-Ek Prem Katha’ and ‘Durgamat’. She hopes to create another success story with ‘Daldal’ on Amazon Prime Video after the positive reception of her last streaming project ‘Bhakshak’.
The actor is excited about the growing empowerment of women in the entertainment industry, especially in leading roles on global streaming platforms. She sees it as a validation of her journey since her debut, motivating her to deliver memorable performances.
“Daldal” follows the story of DCP Rita Ferreira as she grapples with her past while investigating a series of murders that brings her face to face with a gruesome serial killer.
Meanwhile, Pednekar appreciates his role as a journalist in ‘Bhakshak’, a tale of unwavering will for justice. Directed by Pulkit and produced by Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma, the film features a stellar cast including Sanjay Mishra, Aditya Srivastava and Sai Tamhankar.
Bhakshak is currently available for streaming on Netflix, offering audiences a captivating narrative brought to life by Pednekar and his talented cast.
