Egyptian Hollywood at the Nile Al-Ahram Film Studio in Cairo is destroyed in a mysterious fire

Al-Ahram media reported that the studio was completely destroyed, including the decorations, the areas designated for filming, and the corridors.

Images show a large fire emerging from the complex and a group of buildings turning black in the aftermath.

In one photo, firefighters surround a large black patch of scorched earth, with palm trees standing among them like symbols of its fascinating past.

His neighbor Youssef Mohammed told AFP that the fire “reached the surrounding buildings before the fire engines arrived.”

He said: No one knows the truth about what happened.

The third largest film producer in the world

The Al-Araby Al-Jadeed website reported on Sunday that Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced compensation amounting to 15,000 Egyptian pounds (£246) for the affected families. He visited the area with officials. The Egyptian Public Prosecution also opened an investigation into the incident.

In the 1950s, Egypt was the third largest film producer in the world, with countless Egyptian films and television series produced at Al-Ahram.

Today, mired in the worst economic crisis in its history, Egypt produces three-quarters of the film production in the Arab world.

The Pyramids fire is expected to severely affect television viewers during the month of Ramadan when viewing figures reach their peak in Egypt and the rest of the Arab world.
