Mubarak Murder Movie Review: A self-aware satire that almost delivers on the promise of a criminal organization | Bollywood

“Mubarak Murders” movie review: By the end of the movie, the temptation to compare it to “White Lotus” or the “Knives Out” series has disappeared. The beginning of The Mubarak Murders feels a little far-fetched, with a roll call of characters from high society being introduced by nicknames that are supposed to be shorthand for their descriptions, but throughout the whole thing, a child is I’m looking for a cat named Prince Harry. Of course, Murder Mubarak is about murder, and even if you don’t have the correct theorem, you can still enjoy it even if you solve the mystery correctly over the course of the movie. Homi and his screenwriters Suprotim Sengupta and Ghazal Dhaliwal portray them brightly in the film.

The plot comes from Anuja Chauhan’s novel ‘Club You to Death’, so credit to the casting team for recreating it almost exactly.

This is Sara Ali Khan’s most urbane role in a while, and she makes the most of the agency the character gives her. The script extracts every last drop of emotion from viewers who accept the character of Vijay Varma as a twisted, broken practitioner of everyday violence.

The red herring and the backstory about Varun Mitra could have gotten less screen time. The Mubarak Murders probably would have worked better as a miniseries, given its length requirements alone, but in the end, the film is inherently entertaining.
