Michelle Yeoh took a moment Monday to explain why she handed Emma Stone her Best Actress Oscar to Jennifer Lawrence before Stone accepted the trophy on stage.
At the 2024 Academy Awards on Sunday, five former Best Actress Oscar winners took time to introduce each of this year’s nominees, with last year’s winner Michelle Yeoh scheduled to hand over the trophy to the winner. When Stone’s name was called, Yeoh took an extra second to hand the trophy to Jennifer Lawrence, so that Lawrence could hand it to Stone.
