After Bharat Ratna, biographical web series to revive PV – ThePrint – Opt
Last month, Modi announced at X “his pleasure in sharing that our former Prime Minister, Shri PV Narasimha Rao Garu, will be honored with the Bharat Ratna”. He also said that Rao’s tenure from 1991 to 1996 “was marked by significant measures that opened India to global markets, ushering in a new era of economic development”.

“These five years have been a period of great upheaval in our country in the political, social and economic fields and I, as a common man and a filmmaker, have been deeply affected by all those events,” said Jha.
Jha is known for his socio-political films like and my student (1997), thank you (2003), Appaharan (2005), Raajneeti (2010) and Satyagraha (2013).
“PV’s entire life as CM of united Andhra Pradesh, Union Minister etc. has been a fascinating journey. Of course, especially the years of his prime ministership,” he said.
“Unfortunately, such an erudite statesman was a victim of politics within his party – first ostracized by Rajiv Gandhi and his associates and later ignored by those in power,” Jha added.

“Multilingual Pan India Series”
The new PV project is Allu Aravind’s brainchild, noted the Telugu film producer and father. Pushpa Star Allu Arjun. Allu Aravind is the chairman and promoter of the popular Telugu OTT platform Aha, which is backed by Arjun.
“Nobody Garou Contacted me with a copy of the book and shared his admiration for PV, whom he described as “a great patriot, an icon, especially for South Indians, Telugus”. I had a discussion with Sitapati as well,” said Jha about coming to the project.
Ajit Thakur, director and co-founder of Aha, said the web series, which was conceived two years ago, will have eight episodes of 45-60 minutes each. “The biopic will be a celebration of the life of a contemporary Indian architect. We are finishing the pre-production work, research, writing, finalizing the script etc,” Thakur told ThePrint.
“The Bharat Ratna honor in recognition of PV’s pivotal role in the transformation of the Indian economy reinforces our expectations. half a lion serial,” said Thakur.
Without disclosing the budget, Thakur said the “premium, multilingual India series” is expected to be released in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. He added that the casting process will begin soon and the shooting is expected to begin in the second half of this year.
Telangana BJP spokesperson and grandson of PV NV Subhash welcomed the project. “It will greatly help the public, especially the younger generations, to get to know the public servant better,” he said.
ThePrint reached out to PV Prabhakar Rao, the former prime minister’s only surviving son, and daughter Surabhi Vani, Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLC, through calls for comment, but did not receive a response by the time of publication. This report will be updated if and when a response is received.

Pamulaparthi Venkata Narasimha Rao (1921–2004), better known as PV Narasimha Rao or PV, was the fourth Chief Minister of the united Andhra Pradesh (1971–73), the first from the Telangana region. He hailed from Wangara village in North Telangana.
PV later became the 10th Prime Minister of India in 1991, the first from South India to lead a minority government for a full term.
