Bringing the worlds of Bollywood and Hollywood films together, I am happy to write about something a little different this time! Hello readers. It is my pleasure to provide updates on one of the recent events I participated in.
I hosted and moderated a one-on-one conversation with Bollywood Hollywood Production CEO Prashant Shah, who visited the campus to meet and greet and provide insights into the world of media, marketing and films!
Mr. Shah is a highly skilled content production professional and is known as the face behind the production of many popular Bollywood films. Besides excelling in various content related industries, Shah has been leading Bollywood Hollywood Production Inc. In California for over 20 years. He is best known for one of the most famous Bollywood films of all time, ‘My Name is Khan’, where he worked closely in the production of the film.
Mr. Shah’s latest film is Jungle Cry. He has also been involved in titles like Ra.One, Ekk Main Aur Ek Tu, Dostana, Ta Ra Rum Pum, among others.
The conversation revealed interesting stories about Mr. Shah revolving around his daily lifestyle, content, media and marketing. It was a great opportunity for those who want to see what this industry is like and how to solve challenges in real time. The Department of Communication, Film and Media Studies was excited to showcase this relationship between Bollywood and Hollywood films and highlight what the two worlds of major film production look like.
“The media landscape continues to change.”
Tom Garrett, Head of Communications, Film and Media Studies, along with Paul Falcone, Director of Studio Operations and Media Production, were excited to support a personal conversation and dive into this informative event with Mr. Shah, whom they have known for decades.
As CEO of Bollywood Hollywood Production Inc., Mr. Shah believes that “Hollywood doesn’t make movies, it markets them.” The conversation revealed more of these thoughts and beliefs from the man himself. The Department of Communication, Film and Media Studies, along with the College of Arts and Sciences and Pompeia Business School, sponsored this opportunity to help a wide range of students understand their career paths in the media, marketing and film industries.
Following the conversation, the Department of Communications, Film and Media Studies hosted a screening of “My Name Is Khan,” followed by “Jungle Cry.”
Mr. Shah believes that media and leadership are critical components of the industry, and was excited to visit the University of New Haven.
“Talking about media and films always interests me. In fact, meeting new students who are interested in being part of this industry is something I look forward to,” he said. “The media landscape continues to change for a better, forward-thinking development.” “And acknowledge leadership. The key to successful leadership today is influence, not power, and to have a purpose.”
