Prakash Jha releases new album ‘Janadesh’
Filmmaker Prakash Jha, known for his works like ‘Damul’, ‘Gangajal’, ‘Apaharan’, ‘Raajneeti’, ‘Aashram’ and ‘Mrityudand’, is all set to produce a new film.
In an exclusive interview with ANI, director Prakash Jha announced the title of his upcoming film.
“The next film I will make is Jiska title main aapke jarya bata deta hoon duniya ko (the title of which I will reveal to the world through you) and the film will be called ‘Janadesh’. “I will be called,” he said.
When asked if ‘Janadesh’ is a political film, he said it is a film that understands democracy.
“Janadesh is not political. Janadesh is about understanding democracy. If I start from this point where I want to tell a story about democracy, I won’t find it. But there will be a story that reveals what’s really going on,’ what happened to democracy,” he said.
Prakash Jha made his directorial debut in 1984 with the film Hip Hip Harley. The film received critical acclaim and was featured in the book 40 Retakes: Bollywood Classics You May Have Missed.
Since then, Jha’s talent for editing, storytelling, and conversational writing has earned him various awards and honors, including eight National Awards.
The filmmaker also spoke about his experiences and how the changing socio-political environment has shaped his films.
“People think I’m making very innovative films, but I don’t think so. I’m just trying to tell existing stories, or stories that evolve over time. For example, right now, for the last five years, or maybe six years, I’ve been completely obsessed with the idea of why democracies around the world are failing. There’s a sense of insecurity in the system. “I think something new will come and happen,” he said.
