then Unveiling an intriguing first look, the makers of the Emraan Hashmi-starrer Showtime web series have released its much-awaited trailer. Offering a glimpse into the show’s narrative, the trailer explores the internal dynamics and politics of Bollywood, including the perennial discourse on nepotism. Apart from Hashmi, the series also stars Mouni Roy, Rajeev Khandelwal, Naseeruddin Shah and Shriya Saran in lead roles.
The trailer follows Emraan Hashmi’s character Raghu Khanna, the son of a famous producer played by Naseeruddin Shah, who claims his legacy in the family studio. Crediting his journey as a cinematic powerhouse through sheer hard work, Raghu focuses on making major Bollywood blockbusters that earn substantial profits. However, his approach is challenged by journalist Mahika Nandy, who also aspires to carve her niche as a filmmaker.

In a moment of confrontation, Mahika boldly tells Raghu, “Aab maal bechiye mein filmy banaugi (You sell the product, I make the movies). Later, Emraan’s Raghu analyzes the hypocrisy underlying such statements. He says, “Nepotism ke mukhaute ke peeche aakhir mein har outsider insider bana chahta hai (After all, every outsider wants to become an insider behind the facade of nepotism). The trailer shows Mouni Roy portraying an actor battling multiple obstacles while Rajeev Khandelwal portrays the struggle of an artist trying to stay relevant. Additionally, the trailer suggests a cameo appearance by rapper Badshah in the series.
Showtime, Hotstar Original is scheduled to premiere on Disney Plus Hotstar on March 8. Created by Sumit Roy, the series is co-directed by Mihir Desai and Archit Kumar and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic, the digital arm of Dharma Productions.
