About the actor, Shannon Esra revealed, “When the producers were explaining who Govinda was to me, they said, ‘He’s the John Travolta of Bollywood!'” It described him very well to me. But one day, he disappeared on the way to the job site. He went to the village and slaughtered a goat to wish him good luck. He came back covered in blood! I asked him, “What happened?” He said matter-of-factly, “I just slaughtered the goat to wish the villagers good luck.” I was like, “What are you talking about?” (lol)! He was like, “This South African girl has no idea.” So in a way it was great to learn about the culture and rituals. ”
Shannon continued. “Overall he was nice and polite and we got along very well. I learned a lot from everyone on set. I remember being very fond of DOP Piyush Shah. . He really taught me a lot.”
When pointed out that Govinda was known to be superstitious, Shannon Esra replied:, “The day we were shooting at the Taj Mahal in Agra, we only had permits for 12 hours that day. I know I have to wait a little longer with lighting and other work. But when 10am came around, I realized that nothing was happening. Across the river, the director ( I could see Nikkhil Advani) pacing up and down and panicking. I asked Rukshida David, the third AD, why she wasn’t filming. She told me, “Govinda never takes a step from the vanity van.” I don’t want to come out.” I asked, “Why?” Did he hurt himself? She answered: “It’s probably unlucky for him to be working today with that constellation.” I thought we could only shoot that scene that day.”
Determined not to take things lying down, Shannon said, “I barged into his trailer and told him, ‘Get on set!'” while filming. I want to go home’!
