Telugu romantic comedy web series Miss Perfect starring actress Lavanya Tripathi and Abhijeet Duddala is now streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar. Read our review to learn more about the 8-episode series.

story:

After a heartbreak, OCD freak and management consultant Lavanya Rao (Lavanya Tripathi) moves from Delhi to Shanti Nilayam’s apartment in Hyderabad. Amidst the chaos of COVID-19, her maid Jyoti (Abhigniya Voothaluru) asks her to inform Rohit Varma (Abhijeet Duddala), a software engineer in the same apartment, about her absence from work. Rohit makes her a maid. Later, Lavanya becomes Laxmi’s maid. Both develop feelings for each other. What happened next? Why didn’t Lavanya reveal her identity? Did Rohit realize who he was? What ended up happening is a story worth watching on the small screen.

Plus points:

After her serious debut in Puli Mecca, Lavanya Tripathi brings a fun twist to her character in this romantic comedy serial, portraying a person with a strong penchant for cleanliness. His portrayal is both decent and entertaining, effectively showcasing his acting prowess.

Abhijeet Duddala, in the lead role of Rohit, enhances the story significantly with a commendable performance. His charisma adds an endearing touch to the character.

Abhigniya, who portrays an energetic maid, effortlessly lets her humor shine through, making it an enjoyable watch. Mahesh Vita and Harshavardhan, along with the supporting cast, deliver satisfying performances.

Minus points:

Despite its potential, Miss Perfect lacks the necessary situational comedy that is crucial to connecting with viewers in a romantic comedy. The series missed a valuable opportunity to introduce more comedic elements by neglecting writers Francis Thomas and Shruti Ramachandran and director Vishwak Khanderao.

While the initial episodes set the stage effectively, the proceedings that follow lack the desired impact. The narrative fails to explore the full potential of the drama and comedy between the main characters, leaving a sense of unfulfilled potential.

Harshavardhan and Jhansi’s engaging sub-tracks hamper the plot and the climactic episodes could have been more compelling to lift the series from decent to exceptional.

Jyothi’s character portrayed by Abhigniya lacks emotional depth in family situations. Also, the director could have used Mahesh Vita and Harsh Roshan to create more impactful comedy elements.

Technical aspects:

Vishwak Khanderao as the director has done a satisfactory job. However, a greater emphasis on situational comedy and drama by writers Francis Thomas and Shruti Ramachandran could have greatly improved the rom-com series. Still, their commitment to creating a wholesome, family-friendly rom-com deserves recognition.
Prashant R Vihar’s music and Aditya Jawwad’s camera work contribute effectively to the serial. While the editing is generally acceptable, some tweaking in between episodes could improve the overall viewing experience. The commendable quality of the production is a testament to the dedicated team behind the scenes.

Verdict:

Overall, Miss Perfect, an 8-episode rom-com series, isn’t exactly “perfect,” but it does offer some entertaining moments. Lavanya Tripathi, Abijeet and Abhignya give decent performances. However, the lack of situational comedy, the occasional slow pace and unnecessary sub-tracks pose challenges. If you are looking for a family series and can overlook these aspects, Miss Perfect is a suitable choice for weekend viewing – keep your expectations in check.
