Details of the next 11th Muscat International Film Festival were announced at the Oman Film Association headquarters in Muscat. According to a report in the Times of Oman, the festival will be held from March 3 to 7 under the theme of “Reborn Oman.”
The festival awards and honors various national and international directors and film stars throughout the five-day event, including Indian superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
The festival will host multiple competitions across diverse themes, including the International Feature Narrative Film Competition, the International Feature Documentary Film Competition, the Animated Film Competition, the Oman Short Narrative Film Competition, and the Oman Short Documentary Film Competition. A total of 23 prizes are being allocated across these contest categories.
In addition to screenings and competitions, the festival also hosts a series of accompanying events such as seminars and workshops. These sessions aim to familiarize participants with the process of obtaining the necessary licenses for film production in the Sultanate in coordination with relevant authorities. In addition, the festival will also offer courses related to various aspects of film production.
A notable addition to the festival is the “Festival Market,” which serves as a hub for institutions, production companies, and arts platforms. The initiative aims to bring together film industry enthusiasts and professionals and foster regional and international cooperation within the government and private film production sectors. The Festival Market provides a space for the exchange of experiences and promotions, showcasing filmmaking and artistic abilities.
