June Squibb Sundance Comedy Thelma Lands in Magnolia – The Hollywood Reporter
Magnolia Pictures has acquired North American rights to June Squibb’s comedy Thelma, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. A wide theatrical release is planned.
Josh Margolin directed the film that follows a 93-year-old grandmother (Squibb) who is tricked by a phone scammer posing as her grandson (Fred Hechinger) and embarks on a treacherous mission through Los Angeles, accompanied by an elderly friend. The late Richard Roundtree, in one of his last roles) and his motorcycle, to recover what was taken from it.
Parker Posey, Clark Gregg and Malcolm McDowell also star.
