Omar Sy’s film at Berlinale 2024 has been added to the list of Berlinale special screenings – The Hollywood Reporter
The 2024 Berlin Film Festival has added Brandt Andersen’s refugee drama The issue of strangersWhich includes French star Omar Sy (Lupine) to the official team lineup. The drama revolves around a tragedy that struck a Syrian family in Aleppo, setting off a chain reaction of events affecting five different families in four countries, and will be shown in the Berlinale’s special sidebar at this year’s festival, which runs from February 15 to 25. Jason Peggy and Yasmine Al-Masry participate in the film’s cast.
On Thursday, Berlin also added two Japanese medium-length films to the list of Berlinale special screenings: Ringing By Kiyoshi Kurosawa (Tokyo Sonata) And August is my paradise By Ryu Kudo (Orphan Blues). Ringing It follows a culinary school student who begins hearing voices and becomes convinced that half of his brain has been replaced by a machine. August is my paradise The film revolves around Joe, a professional actor who is hired by clients to play the role of their friend, relative or lover at formal events. But an event at a funeral party makes it difficult for Jo to separate her professional life from her private life.
Another highlight of the already-announced Berlinale Specials program is the crime thriller starring Rose Glass Love lies bleeding Starring Kristen Stewart, which premiered at Sundance; Korean excitement Round: Punishment Directed by Heo Myeong-haeng and starring Train to Busan And Eternity Actor Don Lee; And the documentary Made in England: The Films of Powell and PressburgerIt is directed by David Hinton and narrated by Martin Scorsese.
