According to reports, Prakash Mehra, the director of the superhit film Zanjeer, had initially approached Raj Kumar to cast him as the lead in the film.

According to some reports, Raj Kumar really liked the script of the film, but refused to act in it because he didn’t like the director’s look. Meanwhile, according to this anecdote, Raj Kumar said something to the director. He reportedly told him, “You smell like Bijinori oil.” Understandably, Prakash Mehra left after this encounter, feeling insulted. Moreover, according to many reports, Prakash has also gone for films with top actors like Dharmendra and Dev Anand. Raj Kumar was given the role, which was eventually given to Amitabh Bachchan.
