Jonathan Majors’ ‘Dream Journal’ Leaves the Searchlight – The Hollywood Reporter

Jonathan Majors Ahlam magazine Officially back on the market. Nearly a year after Searchlight Pictures acquired the bodybuilding drama, the specialty arm of Walt Disney Studios has quietly returned the rights to the film to the filmmakers, who will now market it to other buyers.

This move comes just weeks after Majors was convicted of assault and harassment, in connection with an incident involving his former partner, Grace Jabbari. Searchlight delivered the news to Ahlam magazine The team announced late last week that it would not be releasing the film, according to sources.

Searchlight bought the film for what sources say was around mid-seven figures in February 2023. It was plotting an awards season campaign late in the year. But a month later, Majors was arrested in New York, putting the film’s fate up in the air.

Searchlight officially removed it from the release calendar in October, before the Majors trial. The actor is awaiting sentencing on February 6. He has already faced professional repercussions stemming from his arrest and conviction, with Marvel Studios firing him from the role of villain Kang the Conqueror. Bynum wrote and directed Ahlam magazinewhich received an 84 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes after its review from Sundance.

“It’s an all-out performance for the ages, full of vulnerability as much as rage, and to Majors’ credit, our hearts ache for Killian even — or perhaps especially — when he’s out of control,” he wrote.
