Huma Qureshi’s web series to be streamed soon on Sony LIV; Check the release date

Maharani Season 3 on OTT: Sony LIV has recently launched the upcoming season of its critically acclaimed political drama Maharani. Fans can expect the return of Huma Qureshi as Rani Bharti, promising to portray her character in an even stronger and more determined way. While Sony LIV hasn’t kept a release date for Maharani Season 3, the teaser is accompanied by a cryptic ‘coming soon’ tag, heightening the anticipation of viewers.

Sharing the announcement, OTT giant Sony Liv wrote, “Pareeksha ki tayyari hai jaariPhir aa rahi hai #Maharani! Teaser out now! #MaharaniS3 airing soon on @sonylivindia #MaharaniOnSonyLIV”.

About the Maharani

Maharani is a Hindi language drama television series debuting in 2021 created by Subhash Kapoor. The first season, helmed by director Karan Sharma, was followed by a second season under the direction of Ravindra Gautam. The show stars Huma Qureshi in the lead role, supported by a cast including Sohum Shah, Amit Syal, Kani Khusrout and Inaamulhaq.

This multi-season political drama is inspired by various events in Bihar in the 1990s, especially when Lalu Prasad Yadav nominated his housewife wife Rabri Devi as his successor. Season 1, which spans from 1995 to 1999, takes cues from real-life incidents and characters such as Ranveer Sena, left-wing militancy, Naxalite groups, the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation, the 1997 Laxmanpur Batte massacre, the Fodder Scam and Brahmeshwar Singh.

In Season 2, the narrative is set in mid-1999 and takes inspiration from real-life events and personalities. The story deals with events such as the Shilpi-Gautam murder, Sadhu Yadav, Rajiv Goswami, Shibu Soren, Mohammad Shahabuddin, Prashant Kishore, the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) and the 2000 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections.
