The special energy of Bollywood is unlike any other in the world.

The colors, props, costumes and dance moves of Bollywood are unique to the India-based film industry, but thanks to Koota Bollywood All Stars, the people of Kalkean and Jindera find out more about what makes Bollywood so special You’ll get an opportunity. .

Fiona Braybrooks of Koota Bollywood All Stars will be holding a workshop at the town’s library in a bid to spread the fun nature of the growing cultural phenomenon.

Fiona attended university in Canberra and became interested in Bollywood films when she befriended a girl from the northwestern Indian state of Punjab.

“She introduced me to Bollywood movies and then I was lucky enough to attend her wedding in India in 2006, which sparked my interest. . So when I came back, I attended a beginner’s Bollywood class in Canberra,” Fiona said.

Fiona spent the next few years teaching English between Australia and India, ultimately only increasing her passion for Indian culture.

After returning to Cootamundra in 2014, Fiona launched Cootamundra All Stars with the aim of introducing the best of Bollywood to the region.

“I love the color, vibrancy and fun of Bollywood dance,” said Fiona.

“Koota Bollywood’s songs are bright, happy and expressive, making you smile and want to get into the groove! It’s also a very approachable dance style, so anyone can join in.”

Those attending the workshop will not only learn short dance routines, but also learn more about Bollywood dance and the Hindi film industry.

“I will also bring some props and costumes from the Koota Bollywood All Stars collection, so we can talk about the different types of costumes, fabrics and styles that we wear during performances,” she said.

Fiona encourages anyone interested to try out dance moves, even if they don’t have the confidence to try them out.

“It’s normal to feel nervous about something you’ve never tried before, but we encourage you to come along and learn a little more about Bollywood dance. There’s no obligation to dance,” Fiona said.

“We invite you to be part of the fun of the workshop as we enjoy costumes, fabrics and props.

“We are really looking forward to bringing the joy of Bollywood dance to the Kalkean and Jindera communities.

“I always enjoy sharing my love for Bollywood dance and talking about the artistic process behind Koota Bollywood All Stars.”

The Bollywood Workshop will be held on Tuesday, January 9th at 11am and 2pm at Kalkean Library and Jindera Library respectively.
