Mithun Chakraborty reacts to 80’s Disco Dancer which crossed Rs 100 crore mark: ‘Aaj Kal Shayad Paisa Bahat Sasta Ho Gaya Hai’ Hindi Movie News
Talking about the historic feat of ‘Disco Dancer’ at the box office in the 80s, Mithun told Bollywood Hungama that he couldn’t believe that the film grossed Rs 100 crore at the time. “I was like, ‘Itna paisa, baap re’!” He further added that these days, if a film earns less than Rs 100 crore at the box office, it feels like a failure.
He further said that in the past, a film was considered a blockbuster if it grossed between Rs 3 billion and Rs 5 billion in the region. If you add up all the regions, the business of Rs 50 billion to Rs 550 billion was once considered an unbelievable figure. “Now, if a film doesn’t cross Rs 100 crore at the box office, people will say, ‘Haan, take hai!’ Aaj kal shayad paisa bahat sastha ho gaya hai (lol) )!” He expressed it this way.
With “Gadar 2” becoming an unprecedented blockbuster, Mr. Misun was asked about his opinion on making a sequel to “Disco Dancer.” However, the actor believes that movies only occasionally achieve this kind of success.

I am a musical star. It made me a dance superstar. In this day and age, we take the risk of making a film solely about dance. There won’t be anyone. That was the risk B. Subhash took. And it worked,” Misun concluded.
Disco Dancer is perhaps best known for its unforgettable soundtrack, which includes: Bappi Lahiri. The songs, especially I’m a disco dancer. Yaad aa raha haiand jimmy jimmywhich became a huge hit and is still considered an iconic piece of Bollywood music history.
Mithun Chakraborty’s energetic dance moves coupled with Bappi Lahiri’s peppy songs contributed to the film’s huge success. The film not only left its mark on Indian cinema but also gained popularity in the international market.
