Kritika Kammula defends Beed’s ‘failure’, says director Anubhav Sinha didn’t make the film to earn Rs 300-400 crore box office: ‘Every film is just about entertaining and numbers. It’s not just about earning money.” Bollywood News

Anubhav Sinha’s film Beed, which released earlier this year, failed to make a huge impact on the audience despite its shocking story. Actor Kritika Kamra, who played the role of journalist Vidhi Prabhakar in the film, wondered if the audience was not ready to revisit the corona era.

Bheed, starring Rajkummar Rao in the lead role, is set during the tough times of the coronavirus pandemic, when migrants started migrating across states during the lockdown.

In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Kritika said that ‘Beed’ is not a film that will create historic box office success.

When asked if the film’s failure at the box office upset her, Kritika said, “No, because I think the purpose and intention behind the film was different.” I don’t think even Anubhav sir thought that he would earn Rs 300-400 crore. It’s not that kind of movie. ”

But the actor often wonders if audiences would have been ready to relive the trauma of the pandemic through this film so early in their lives.

She said: “This is an important film, and perhaps, and I’m not just speculating, it may have been too soon for people to revisit that traumatic time. Watching it again, this is shocking. It’s a very emotional film, and it talks about the realities of our society and the differences in society, and that’s what connected with me.”

Beed was supported by a talented ensemble cast including actors like Bhumi Pednekar, Pankaj Kapoor, Ashutosh Rana, Dia Mirza and others.

Kritika, who was a popular face on Indian television before appearing in films, spoke about why she chose to act in this hard-hitting drama. “As an artist, if I have a chance to communicate something through my art, I’m definitely going to do it. I’m also in it because it’s a bigger number than the box office. I went into this movie hoping for that and more.” When we look back at this period of our lives, Bheed will be a film that documents that period and will do a good job of illustrating the stories of these people.”

She concluded: I know it’s a business, but movies also have a purpose: to engage people and make them think, and that’s what they achieved. ”

Kritika recently appeared in the web series ‘Bambai Meri Jaan’ where she played the role of Habiba Qadri.
