Masked men spray an ‘unknown substance’ inside a movie theater showing a Hindi movie
Earlier this week, masked men reportedly sprayed an unknown substance at a theater in Canada’s Greater Toronto Area where a Hindi film was being shown.
Several moviegoers in three different areas in the Greater Toronto Area were evacuated and some received medical treatment for exposure to the substance, according to the report. No major injuries were reported.
A similar incident occurred around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday at a movie theater along Highway 7 and Highway 400 in the Vaughan area, York Regional Police said. “Several moviegoers began coughing after two masked men sprayed an ‘aerosol-based unknown irritant’ into the air inside the theater,” police said in a statement.

Peel police also said officers were called to a theater in Brampton on Dec. 5 after a report of a substance being sprayed on the premises. Preliminary information indicates that the suspects purchased movie tickets and were in the theater for a very short time. The building was evacuated and no serious injuries were reported. No arrests have been made yet. York police said they are working with Peel and Toronto police regarding similar incidents that occurred recently.
“Coincidentally, all of these incidents occurred within three hours of each other on the same evening,” York Police said on Dec. 6.
