Vanga said in a recent interview with The Hindu that the first cut of Animal took almost four hours. “The first cut of Animal was 3 hours 45 or 46 minutes. We cut it down to 3 minutes 21 seconds. I’ve seen that movie many times and it’s a very fascinating movie. Ranbir is great. He is a performer and will not let the audience relax for even a second,” he said.
However, despite having an ‘A’ rating and running time of over three hours, Animal is expected to score a grand opening at the box office. Girish Johar, a film producer and trade analyst, told indianexpress.com, “Despite the adult-only certificate, non-holiday release, and long run, the film is not only popular in India. A large-scale release is also planned in overseas markets.” He estimated that the film could earn a worldwide box office collection of Rs 100 crore, of which Rs 550 crore would come from the Hindi market.
