Prithviraj Sukumaran rocked the show with his performance as Varda. Salar: Part 1 – Ceasefire. His bond with Prabhas is one of the strong points of this film and the dashing and talented actor spoke about the success of his film and much more in an exclusive interview. bollywood hungama.
What was the feedback on Salar: Part 1 – Ceasefire? I’m sure you’re flooded with messages and DMs!
(smile). I.i am very satisfied Salar received. It is encouraging that this film has resonated with people across the country. That was our intention. A huge thank you to Hombale Films, Prashanth Neel, Prabhas and the entire team. I have had the privilege of experiencing many successes and failures in the film industry. But I feel like this is special because I’m getting calls and messages from people from all walks of life. They all told me as if they were watching a movie from their industry.
Salar It was probably the biggest release in terms of reach…
surely. It was also the largest release in terms of size and, as you said, distribution scope and release size. It’s every artist’s dream to have their work featured and celebrated in this way. I hope this is the beginning of many new good things to come.
What is the reaction of Prashanth Neel Prabhas, the team at Hombale Films? Are they happy with the feedback?
oh yeah. I have been working very closely with Hombale Films. I also direct films for them. And yes, Prabhas and others are very happy with the response. Prashanth is the kind of guy who doesn’t seem to realize what this movie did.Among them KGF, he acted much the same way. But I’m sure he’s very happy too. It’s really gratifying to see all our hard work and hard work come to fruition.
Did you have a chance to see it? Salar At the theater?
I’m in Kerala now. It’s not easy to go to the cinema here to watch a movie.
Come to Mumbai and experience the madness of Gaiety-Galaxy.maybe you can SalarSequel to…
Agree. Salar This is a movie that must be seen with a large audience. I would love to do that.Based on the current situation, we make the following assumptions. Salar ” will be showing for the next few weeks to sold-out theaters, so I hope you get a chance to see the film at a sold-out screening.
Your character, Varda, doesn’t do any action for most of the movie, so many people assume he won’t take down the bad guys. But at the climax, he does his best. Was it intentional to save the best until last?
Prashant had this intentional design in mind to continue to hint at how deep the bond between Varda and Devas is. So when they finally join forces, you know what a deadly force they can be collectively. I’ll just say the climax part, Salar This is just a hint of what will happen in part two.
Sometimes a scene may be well written on paper, but it may not translate the same way on celluloid. But the “Yaa Yaa” scene reached another level on celluloid. And the fact that my eyes were closed made it even more effective…
When Prashanth narrates a film, he also narrates his vision. Prashanth had a clear vision for that series of battles. Just as I close my eyes while others open their eyes when the Devas walk in front of me. It’s like, “Everyone else will want to see what happens.” You (Varda) are the only ones who know what’s going to happen and I don’t want to see it. He understood that very well in his writing and directing. Additionally, he is also a great technician. He has a great sense of style and brings it into the drama very well. Prashant’s imagination is limitless.
On a lighter note, the visual tone of the film is so dark that people often joke that Prashanth Neel doesn’t like lighting. What do you think?
(Laughs) Som Prashant doesn’t like multicolors, preferring monochrome, high contrast, and shadows. I understand that a lot of people are saying this.”Salar very similar to KGFIn terms of styling and cinematography. But we know for a fact that Prashant always wanted a certain look. Salar.and Salar written before KGF. He favored black dust and the texture of clothing to create a world where blood is perhaps the most colorful thing. He always had that in his mind. Nevertheless, the style, tone, cinematography, contrast ratio, and play of shadows and light all contribute significantly to what Khansaar’s visuals feel like. Style is a part of writing. Hats off to Prashanth for imagining what the world would look like. It is completely fictional and created in his head. It’s similar to how JRR Tolkien created the entire world of The Lord of the Rings. He imagined what the place would be like, what the politics of the place would be, how the place would be governed, the hierarchy, the power relations between the players, and so on. A great deal of effort went into envisioning the world. Part of that effort is style and feel, too. For example, what do you think when you look at the screen and see Kanzaar? Prashanth would have known better than anyone that comparisons were bound to happen. He still chose this styling Salar.
Which scene was the most difficult for you?
The entire climax action scene was challenging. We shot in December, when nights in Hyderabad are quite cold. You must wear a woolen jacket. And Prabhas and I were covered in blood. The fake blood used in movies feels very cold. At 1 or 2 a.m., Prabhas and I were sitting in front of the bonfire. And it wasn’t just one night. Filming took place over many nights. If you’ve seen this movie, you know that the people we fight have to act a certain way for some reason. Their movements were not very precise. They had to act as if they were completely out of control. It was very challenging.
Have you had a chance to see Danki?
I haven’t seen either Danki or Salar! I took pictures continuously. I’m really looking forward to seeing both movies. I am a big fan of Rajkumar Hirani and Shah Rukh Khan. I am very happy that both films did well.
