Ahead of the release of Dhanki, film industry expert Suredhar Pillai told indianexpress.com: Dhanki will not attract as much attention as Salar in South India. He said, “Dhanki is an emotional family film, so it won’t hit many screens and will be limited to multiplexes as it doesn’t have a Telugu or Tamil dubbed version. ” he said.
