OTT Review: Prema Vimanam

Producer Abhishek Nama’s children Devansh Nama and Anirudh Nama made their film debut with ‘Prema Vimanam’. The film also stars Sangeeth Shobhan and Saanvi Meghana in important roles. The film is currently streaming on ZEE5. Let’s see how it goes.

Story:

Ram (Devansh Nama) and Rachu (Anirudh Nama) are the sons of a poor farmer. One day, Ramu and Rachu’s friend mentioned that they had traveled by plane and the brothers became interested in it. They have a strong desire to fly, but their financial situation does not allow them to make that dream come true. On the other hand, there are Mani (Sangeeth Shobhan) and Abita (Saanvi Meghana) who are deeply in love. However, their relationship was not always smooth sailing due to caste issues. Did the couple live the life they wanted? Did the children achieve their dreams? This is what this movie is about.

Plus points:

The story of these two children is moving. It’s filled with heavy emotions, innocence, and aspects of humor. It is a moving depiction of children trying their best to make their wishes come true. You won’t believe that ‘Premavimanam’ is Devanshnama and Anirudh’s first film together. That’s the sensitivity the children showed. It’s adorable in every scene. The scenes with Venera Kishore are especially funny.

At a critical crossroads in the film, the children and the couple cross paths, and that part of the story is quite fascinating. The way these two distinctive plots are linked is commendable. It fits perfectly into the story because its foundation is established from the beginning. Sangeeth Shobhan played the role of a village man with utmost conviction. The way he expresses his anger, tension, and helplessness is amazing.

While Mudd showed a comedic angle in ‘Sangeeth Shoban’, Prema Vimanam proved to be strong in emotional scenes as well. Saanvi Meghana as Abita is impressive. Her facial expressions were also very good, and she exuded confidence in her performance. Every song in this movie is amazing and Anup Rubens has done a great job. Anasuya, Venela Kishore, Supreeth Reddy, Raj Thirandas and Goparaju Ramana did justice to their roles.

Minus points:

Children’s stories are good, but love stories are not appealing. It’s very common and something we’ve been seeing for quite some time. It deals with caste issues in a normal way, and there is nothing new about it. Also, the scenes were repetitive. But it ends well.

The movie is told in a slow manner for the most part and can get boring at times. This movie is very long, so some redundant scenes could have been cut out. Especially after the climax and intermission, the movie drags a little.

There is a plot twist at the end, which is quite shocking. It’s so overused these days that it lacks the wow factor. Some scenes in Prema Vimanam are reminiscent of earlier films.

Technical aspects:

Anup Rubens has impressed a lot with his wonderful songs. Even the background score is too good. The cinematography by Jagadeesh Cheekati is superb. Sometimes a lot can be conveyed without dialogue. There’s a beautiful scene in the movie where the paper locket is torn apart as soon as the children learn of their father’s death. It shows that the children’s dreams were shattered by the death of their father. This short scene is well shot.

Production values ​​are good. The editing could have been better. As for director Santosh, he did a decent job with Prema Vimanam. Santosh has succeeded in telling children’s stories. However, the love story could have been expressed in a better way.

verdict:

All in all, Prema Vimanam is a strictly functional rural drama in parts. Stories with children as main characters work well, but love stories are fairly mundane and full of repetitive scenes. Devansh Nama, Anirudh Nama, Sangeeth Shobhan and Saanvee Megghana did a great job and his last half-hour was heart-pounding. Some funny scenes elicited a decent laugh. But overall, this movie is below average.
