OTT platform to screen Indrani serials for CBI

MUMBAI: A streaming service Netflix told the Bombay HC on Thursday that it will screen the web series ‘Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth’ CBI And it will not be aired until the next session on February 29.
Netflix reluctantly gave its “no objection” to Justices Revati Mohite-Deri and Manjusha Deshpande’s suggestion that the CBI should be allowed to watch the series. “Before we even understand, why can’t the CBI watch the serial?” Justice Mohite-Dere asked. Indrani Mukherjea faces trial for murdering her daughter Sheena Bora. On Wednesday, the CBI moved the HC to stay the release of the series pending the completion of the trial. It said the show could influence witnesses, adding that 89 of the 237 witnesses have been questioned so far. The judges then asked Netflix if there were any witnesses to the series.
Netflix’s lawyer Ravi Kadam said five witnesses are involved, including Indran’s son Mikhail Bora and daughter Vidhi Mukerjea. The judges asked why the CBI was not allowed to watch the serial. According to them, Indran is accused and this is his version. “One of the bail conditions is witness tampering,” Judge Mohite-Dere said, adding that it appeared to be “giving your story” and speaking in support of the people.
