Disney Junior Live’s “Costumepalooza” returns to Cleveland

Spidey’s senses were tingled last year when “Disney Junior Live on Tour” took place in Northeast Ohio.

Now, there is a real flurry of excitement surrounding the return of “Costumepalooza.” The production will be revived a year later on October 18th at the KeyBank State Theater in Playhouse Square.

“The show was very interactive and popular, and demand was really high,” said Jonathan Shank, producer of “Disney Junior Live on Tour: Costumepalooza,” calling from Los Angeles. “We were able to maintain it for over five years.

“It continues to grow. We keep putting in new great songs and characters. It’s fun for families to get together and participate.”

Nominated for polls three times (2019, 2020 and 2022), Disney Junior on Tour has visited hundreds of cities and sold more than 500,000 tickets.

In “Costumepalooza,” host Mickey Mouse brings his friends Minnie, Goofy, and Doc McStuffin along with his friends, including “Marvel’s Spidey and His Fantastic Friends,” “Puppy Dog Pals,” and “Firebuzz.” ” characters will also appear.

However, additional features to eliminate hairballs in preschoolers include “SuperKitties.”

“This is one of Disney Junior’s newest and most popular shows,” he said. “It’s the only place you can see Genie and the Super Kitties on stage. It’s really just a get up and dance segment and it’s high energy and a lot of fun.”

When it comes to producers organizing national tours, there are certain moments that respond to the zeitgeist. Remember when “Frozen” was first added to Disney on Ice? That’s what Shank said is why the introduction of “SuperKitties” is so great.

“It’s amazing,” he said. “As producers, it’s the lightning moment we’ve been waiting for. Indeed, in addition to revamping the show’s content and production, we always have to challenge ourselves to make everything better.

“It’s like all ships are rising in unison. Of course, as Disney introduces new (intellectual properties) into its repertoire, it’s really exciting to see them transformed on stage.”

A native of Pennsylvania, Shank founded Terrapin Station Entertainment, an artist management and production company dedicated to helping musicians and brands tap into their core audiences and shine in the cultural mainstream.

In addition to family entertainment, he has worked with Isaac Hayes, Smashing Pumpkins, Eve, Paul Oakenfold, Ailey & AJ, Ashley Tisdale, LFO, and more over the years.

“Everything I do is always rooted in music,” he said. “I really enjoy producing themed entertainment and iconic characters like Mickey, Minnie and Goofy.

“I’m always working on different musical artists and records. I’m always ready to change directions. The only constant in life is change. I live by that mantra.”

As for being able to pivot and meet every challenge that comes your way, the real question is whether any of the characters in “Costumepalooza” are allergic to cats. Does the addition of “SuperKitties” mean there’s a lot of Claritin behind the scenes?

“It takes all the characters to save the day, so my cat is hypoallergenic,” he laughed.
