Barkha Singh portrays the first season of ‘Engineering Girls’ after 6 years

As Engineer Girls celebrates its six-year anniversary, actor Barkha Singh reflected on the impact it had on its viewers, especially with Barkha’s memorable portrayal of Sabu.

Barkha, known for her roles in ‘Maja Ma’, ‘Girls On Top’, ‘Please Find Attached’ and ‘Masaba Masaba’, spoke about how fans often ask her about the third season.

“A lot of people I meet are still asking me when the third season of ‘Engineer Girls’ is coming out. In fact, ‘Engineer Girls’ gave me the opportunity to play a character like Sabu, which is very different from any other character I’ve played before or any character I’ve played since. “

“People loved seeing me in this avatar. It was a lot of fun. Even though people have seen me in so many movies and shows after ‘Engineer Girls’, I still get asked ‘Sabu Kaisi Ho’ or if I’m attending. A college function I hear how ‘Sabu was the best “”, added the actor.

Speaking about the series, Barkha said, “The show was way ahead of its time. In fact, just the name ‘Engineering Girls’ evokes humor, and even within the show we joke about how women are in the minority in engineering colleges. But it was. And so much more.”

“My character Sabu struggled with her startup ambitions, what she had to convince her parents, then the college, then the people who fund her. All these struggles are something that every girl can relate to. So. I think the success of the show lies somewhere in how It was written but also because it spoke to a lot of girls and also on a very personal level it was very raw and very real and very honest,” she added.

Engineering Girls Season 1 debuted when streaming content was still new in India and quickly became popular, leading to a second season.
Engineering 2.0 revolved around Magu, Sabu and Kiara and how they start to take life seriously after college.
