Producer Abhishek Agarwal’s Hyderabad office raided by Income Tax Department during release of Telugu film

Mumbai: Abhishek Agarwal, producer of ‘The Kashmir Files’ and ‘Vaccine War’, was targeted in a raid by the Income Tax Department on Wednesday morning. Abhishek Agarwal, a prominent Tollywood producer and investor, had set up his office in Hyderabad for media marketing of his upcoming Telugu film ‘Tiger Nageswara Rao’ starring southern actor Ravi Teja.

“Mr. Agarwal was preparing to meet media personnel to promote his new film when the sudden attack shocked the actors who had arrived for a media interview,” said a production team present at the scene. The production team insisted. Sources in the film and entertainment industry claim that Agarwal’s massive marketing and promotional campaign for the Bollywood release of the Telugu film ‘Tiger Nageshwar Rao’ has caught the attention of the IT department.

The financier-turned-producer, who is said to have ties to the Bharatiya Janata Party government and has bankrolled films such as “The Kashmir Files” and “The Vaccine War,” has fallen out of favor in recent days.

The biographical action thriller film Tiger Nageswara Rao was released in Telugu and was written, directed and produced by Vamsi. Ravi Teja plays the title role in the film along with Anupam Kher, Gayatri Bhardwaj, Jisshu Sengupta, Nupur Sanon, Renu Desai and Murali Sharma.

The film is scheduled to be released in theaters worldwide on October 20, 2023. In addition to Telugu, the dubbed version of the film will also be released in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam.

Tiger Nageswara Rao was a robber who ruled the Stuart Plum underworld in the 1970s, carrying out a number of daring robberies, and his cunning ways of evading the police are the stuff of local legend. The rest of the story focuses on Tiger’s exciting adventures and the fascinating cat-and-mouse game he plays with the police.
