The famous Dunkin’ from New England is joining the cast of a Hollywood blockbuster

Dunkin’ and New England

There is no doubt about that. Dunkin’ is a part of our lives in every situation you can think of, especially here in New England. Actors like Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Adam Sandler come from here, so of course they use Dunkin’ stores, donuts, and coffee in their movies.

Dunkin’ started as Open Kettle

According to dunkindonuts.com, the first Dunkin’ restaurant was opened in 1948 in Quincy, Massachusetts, by founder William Rosenberg. Its name was “Open Kettle”.

Open Kettle offers coffee, pastries and sandwiches. The name Dunkin’ Donuts was not born until two years later.

The name is inspired by dipping a donut in coffee and then eating it, a practice I don’t see very often today. Just four years later, the founder opened five more locations.

Dunkin’ sells a lot of coffee

A lot happens in one second.

Dunkin’ sells about 60 cups of coffee every second. This equates to nearly two billion cups of coffee sold worldwide in 2017, according to dunkindonuts.com.

Native New Englanders love Dunkin’

Since I was born and raised here in New England, my favorite coffee is Dunkin’. Maybe because I’ve been drinking it my whole life. Remember when old people used to stop at Dunkin’ after they went out for dinner? One day, my Aunt Hazel and Uncle George stopped by Dunkin’ after we had just eaten dinner and ordered two cups of coffee and two simple Dunkin’ donuts. I asked if the coffee contained alcohol. They both said no, so I asked if I could have a cup. I think I was about seven or eight years old. They said sure, and after about 27 sticks of sugar and a lot of milk, Coffee Lover was born.

Hollywood loves dunks

Hollywood actors like Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Adam Sandler and countless others prefer Dunkin’ coffee. Now, I don’t know them personally, but I’ve seen their movies and I don’t need to know them personally. I just learned.
