‘Oppenheimer’ star Cillian Murphy says movie press tours are a ‘broken model’: ‘Everyone is so bored’

Cillian Murphy finishes his work Oppenheimer Press tour before the Oscars. The actor is nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Actor category for his role as the character in the Christopher Nolan film.

Murphy was candid in a recent interview with GQ, where he said that red carpet and red carpet interviews to promote a movie are outdated.

“I think it’s a broken model,” he told the magazine, which featured him on the cover of the March 2024 issue. “The model is that everyone is very bored.”

The actor said the silver lining of the SAG-AFTRA strike is that press tours have stopped Oppenheimer And Barbie They managed to achieve victories at the box office despite lack of promotion.

Murphy also stated that he does not watch his films, especially “the ones I hear are not good.” One movie he remembers that is not among his favorites is the 2005 thriller directed by Wes Craven Red eye.

“I love Rachel McAdams and we had a lot of fun making her,” Murphy said. “But I don’t think it’s a good movie. It’s a good B movie.”
