Joel Kinnaman shares his failed attempt at method acting for his role in the upcoming action film A quiet night.

After finalizing the logistics, Kinnaman said he would officially stop talking once he arrived in Mexico City to begin filming. But it wasn’t long after the actor arrived that he realized he was “feeling a little lonely” because he didn’t know anyone there and decided to call Gail.

“Then the first day of filming starts, and I get in the car. “The whole trip was very quiet,” Kinnaman recalls. “And then I walk into the makeup trailer and everyone is hanging out and talking, and I’m sitting there in the makeup trailer.”

He quickly realized that he would not go six weeks without any verbal communication, and decided to abandon the method acting.

“I had a really silent, intense car ride. The car ride was basically everything, you know? That kind of provided me with enough of the silence that I needed for the rest of the shoot,” Kinnaman joked.
