‘Immaculate’ director addresses the dark scenes of Sidney Sweeney’s film

The director behind Sidney Sweeney’s latest horror film Immaculate, very clean, very organized It addresses criticism about scenes from the film appearing too dark when viewed on certain streaming platforms.

Michael Mohan took to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday after a social media user complained that the film’s neon visuals were “comedically dark” and shared screenshots showing that it was difficult to see what was happening while the film was streaming. In his response, Mohan explained that he sympathized with the concerns and did not intend for the film to seem so dark.

“I know, man,” Mohan replied. “This was never done intentionally. We have no control over the pressure specifications of each platform.

He continued: “It’s a real issue that really bothers me, and after comparing them all, iTunes is closest to what we wanted/brighter than the rest.”

Hollywood Reporter I reached out to a Neon representative who declined to comment.

Mohan isn’t the first director to address concerns surrounding compression, a process that reduces a project’s file size so it can be viewed on streaming platforms. During last year’s clip for Konbini Video clubChristopher Nolan — a leading advocate of shooting films and showing titles in theaters — discussed his preference for DVD and Blu-ray formats over streaming.
