Hollywood star Brad Pitt is in talks to star in Quentin Tarantino’s latest film ‘The Movie Critic’.

Hollywood star Brad Pitt is likely to reunite with Quentin Tarantino for the director’s 10th and ostensibly final film, “The Movie Critic.”

The status of the deal is unclear. Tarantino has remained tight-lipped about The Movie Critic, but it is said to be set in Southern California during the 1970s and center on satirical film references, Variety reports.

It is rumored to be inspired by the life of Pauline Kael, the late New Yorker writer who was one of the most influential film critics of her time.

Tarantino sidestepped inquiries about The Movie Critic during a talk at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, telling the audience: “I can’t tell you guys (anything) until you see the movie. I feel like doing some character monologues right now, but I won’t. Maybe if there were fewer video cameras. You’ll just have to wait and see.”

According to Variety, Brad Pitt is expected to spend part of 2024 filming a Formula 1 racing film directed by Top Gun: Maverick’s Joseph Kosinski. In this film, produced by Apple, he plays a veteran driver who comes out of retirement to compete alongside a rookie racer and the giants of the sport. So, if talks about The Movie Critic are finalized, production likely won’t begin until mid-year or later. No studio is attached to the film, which will be shot in California and will receive a $20 million tax break. Pitt and Tarantino previously worked together on 2009’s Inglourious Basterds and 2019’s Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, which led to Pitt receiving an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

The movie “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood,” co-starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie, achieved global box office revenues of $377 million. Tarantino has expressed his intention to retire from filmmaking after his tenth film. He made his debut in the independent crime drama “Reservoir Dogs” in 1992, then followed that with the Palme d’Or-winning “Pulp Fiction” in 1994. Tarantino also directed the films “Jackie Brown,” “Kill Bill,” “Death Proof” and “Django.” Unchained” and “The Hateful Eight”. (agencies)
