Hollywood Brown Out for the Season After Shoulder Injury
The Kansas City Chiefs’ new addition, wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, is set to miss the entire 2024 regular season due to a shoulder injury. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Brown, who was placed on the injured list after suffering the injury during an August 10 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, will undergo surgery and is unlikely to return before mid-January.
Long Road to Recovery
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid confirmed that Brown will be out for “months” rather than “weeks.” Although Chiefs’ vice president of sports medicine Rick Burkholder mentioned Brown’s rehabilitation was progressing well, a recent evaluation revealed a bone movement in Brown’s shoulder, necessitating surgery.
Brown’s Impactful Career
Signed in March to a one-year deal worth up to $11 million, Brown was a significant offseason acquisition for the Chiefs. He previously played two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, recording 709 receiving yards and three touchdowns in 2022, followed by 574 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 2023. His career highlight came in 2021 with the Baltimore Ravens, where he posted 1,008 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
Chiefs Adjust Game Plan
With Brown sidelined, the Chiefs will rely on their existing roster to support quarterback Patrick Mahomes in their quest for a third consecutive Super Bowl. Key players like Travis Kelce, Rashee Rice, and rookie Xavier Worthy are expected to step up.
