Halle Berry talks about how playing The Flintstones was a ‘huge step’ for black women

Halle Berry recalls her filming days in the 1990s Flintstones And how her role was a “huge step” for black women in the entertainment industry.
The Oscar-winning actress took to social media on Sunday to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the live-action film, based on the 1960s animated series of the same name.
“I thought it might be really cool to take a look at some of my scenes because I haven’t seen this movie in probably 20 years,” Perry said in an Instagram video. She played the role of the seductive secretary Sharon Stone to Fred Flintstone (John Goodman) in the film.
After watching the first clip The catwoman The star referred to the film’s music, her character’s voice, and her “iconic” hairstyle at the time. She later acknowledged the influence of her choice.
“Being a black woman in Bedrock seemed simple, but, you know, Flintstones It was the fabric of our culture,” Perry explained. “I knew this was a huge step forward for black people, especially black women.”
She added: “Although it was ridiculous, and it was exaggerated and complicated, I knew then how important this small part was in this big movie.”
Flintstonesdirected by Brian Levant, also stars Rick Moranis, Rosie O’Donnell, Elizabeth Perkins, Kyle MacLachlan and Elizabeth Taylor.
“You guys text me every year about ‘The Flintstones’ so I thought I’d do something special for the 30th anniversary,” Perry also wrote in the post’s caption. “I love you all for loving Miss Stone all this time.”
