Channing Tatum and Brad Pitt are teaming up to produce a docuseries about the Isle of Man TT

Channing Tatum and Brad Pitt feel the need for speed.

The A-listers and their respective companies have teamed up with a host of production banners to produce both a docuseries and a feature film centered around the famous and dangerous Isle of Man Tourist Trophy motorcycle races.

Tatum’s Free Association, Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment, screenwriter Jason Keller, Entertainment 360’s Guymon Casady, and Box to Box Films are behind the projects, which look to capture growing global interest in a wide range of sports worlds around the world. It also comes as more broadcasters, media companies and countries pour money into sports at the highest corporate levels.

The production companies will release these projects as a package later this year, according to the companies’ announcement on Tuesday. Mediawan, the European media company and majority owner of Plan B, will be the studio for the docuseries and handle international sales.

The Isle of Man TT began in 1907 in the island nation located between Ireland and the United Kingdom, and has continued almost continuously since then. One lap of the course consists of 37.7 miles through the island’s public road systems, with bikes tackling country lanes and city streets at speeds of up to 200 mph, according to producers.

Production on the docuseries began this week. Titled The greatest race on earth, and will focus on the Isle of Man TT race, which some have described as one of the most dangerous competitions on the planet and takes place in June this year. Box to Box Films, behind the racing documentaries Driving to survive And Tour de France: Unrestrictedis produced alongside Plan B, Free Association, Entertainment 360, and Keller.

The same group will also be developing a feature film package to hit the market later this year. It is unclear whether Keller, who co-wrote the screenplay for the Oscar-nominated 2019 racing film, will be present. Ford vs Ferrariwill write the script for the Isle of Man project.

We’re incredibly honored to be part of the creative dream team telling the story of this legendary event, and we can’t wait to finally share this legendary sport we love with the fans at the whole world.

Other producers were equally enthusiastic in their statements.

Pitt is already working in the racing film industry, currently filming an untitled F1 film which is being directed by Joseph Kosinski. Pitt stars in the film, and he and Plan B are producing it. Free association has Blink twice, Zoë Kravitz’s directorial debut, hits theaters August 23 from Amazon MGM. Cassady was most recently the producer of the highly regarded and well-reviewed romantic adventure film Scapegoat.
